2 out of 5 stars Cheap... in price AND quality   August 24, 2010
feld1010
I was excited to recieve this in the mail, until I opened the package. It was so cheap looking, and feeling. I was also hoping it coordinated better with my camera. I spoke with the seller about returning it, and they were so pleasant and accomadating... but in the end, I didn't end up returning it because it was only $12 and I didn't want to go through the trouble of going to the post office and what not. Would I ever buy from the seller again? Absolutly. But just not this particular piece, or brand.

4 out of 5 stars A Great FIFTY DOLLAR Flash   August 11, 2010
Rusty Spoons (North Jersey, USA)
This may not be the greatest flash out there, in fact we all know that it's not.
Being as you're on this page though, I will assume that you are not looking for the "greatest flash out there",
I will also assume that you are simply looking for a good flash that won't cost much.
If this is indeed what brings you to this item, you have found what you are looking for...

It actually has some nice features, such as a swiveling neck and a adjustable diffuser that telescopes away from the bulb.
Additionally it has a pretty fast recharge rate, which was something I was surprised to see.
All-in-all this is well worth the $50 price tag.

3 out of 5 stars Better than the built in flash, but not professional quality   July 26, 2010

this flash works great if you are simply a photography enthusiast or do it as a hobby, but I would not recommend it for professional work. Does not have TTL ( doesn't "talk" to your camera and adjust accordingly to camera settings ) and goes through batteries like crazy. Burned through 16 AA's shooting one wedding. Price is great but as they say, you get what you pay for.

1 out of 5 stars This thing is a piece of junk.   April 21, 2010

I purchased a Nikon D5000 in May of last year, and purchased this to go along with it. This thing is DAMN bright, yes...it illuminated things over 150 yards away, and would probably do even more if pushed. The thing is, there are no specs to this thing. No sync speed, no compatibility chart, nada, zilch. Above shutter speeds of 1/250, the lower part of the frame doesn't get any of the light, ruining your photo. So you try at lower speeds, but it's too bright to use! It overexposes the entire frame by about +5.0 by the end. This is unacceptable. This thing is NOT for Nikon DSLRs, the sync speed is too low, and without i-TTL or more advanced controls, you can't do anything with it.
Save your money and buy Nikon products ONLY. I have learned this with lenses and other products...and so it is for the flashes as well.
